I needed to bring in one of my cars for a inspection today (it was overdue). The front desk person told me it would 3+ hours I said okay and told them I will wait. I have been taking my cars to West Service Center for years now. Mike Kelley was my vehicle inspector today, he would walk by and update us as to how much longer it would take. I saw how many cars came out with Rejection stickers on them, so I know he is checking everything. I strongly recommend West Service Center for all your vehicle needs.

To be posted as a review on West Service Center, an auto repair facility in Norfolk, VA. I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This past fall of 2022, I'd driven my 1996 Dodge Roadtrek camper to Nova Scotia and was on my way back home, when the GEN Light came ON for the second time on that trip! First time it was in Canada and it cost me a new alternator! When there is a faulty Alternator, your engine is running on whatever charge is left on the vehicle's battery after lights and whatnot! It is practically impossible to assess how long it will run for: 100 miles, 10 miles or just one mile? In that condition I was bumped from shop to shop in an area completely foreign to me! 5 shops and I got all the excuses you can think of: "We are fully booked for the next two weeks", "We don't do RVs" (that was the most common!) "The guy that could help is not in today", "The guy two blocks down the road will fix it for you"!!! etc. etc. Then I was pointed to WEST Service Center! To me it was just another hopeful shop that my camper managed to reach, BUT... soon it became apparent that it was going to be different: there were NO EXCUSES why the job could NOT be done! They understood my predicament: "broken down on the road" (meaning unexpected and away from home)! The bill wasn't cheap, BUT... it was a bargain if you consider three important facts: 1- In a Service Center of that standard, they were not twiddling their fingers waiting for me to arrive, but they treated me like if I'd booked 3 wks in advance! NO EXCUSES. 2- They did a thorough job: they looked for the reason why the system was frying alternators and fixed that too, plus a few other maintenance details I had neglected! I've driven over 3,000 miles since and it's working perfectly! 3- WSC did not treat me this way in hope to gain my regular business! I live 1000 miles away! They did it because they are professionals and as such it is their culture to be helpfull to any & all motorists in distress, locals and transitory. RON WEST is the "working owner", a sweet old guy that understands life is not a straight line... just like a road, it has curves and ups & downs! He stays out of sight, but knows what's going on and intervenes when needed! Ron is a straight shooter, tells you as it is with no frils! He also knows how to build himself a good team, technical and clerical! The office girls found me local accommodation for the night and arranged a free ride to the hotel (thanks Olivia). WSC is an oasis in the middle of the desert! Have I said enough? BTW from what I observed, if it runs on black top, all the way from specialized trucks (like fire engines) down to a little Mini car, including RVs of any size or class, WEST SERVICE CENTER fixes it... PROFESSIONALLY!!! You can count on that. Manuel Monteiro (84 yo retired aviation engineer that's been there done that in 4 continents, Europe, Africa, South America and North America, including Alaska). Also been to 'strailia, NZ, Fiji, but these only for a short visits! I think I qualify for a road opinion!
